ANTARCTICA

POLJUS

This Poljus was part of a collection of a well known watch collector. It has a screw down back and an antimagnetic shield behind the dial and the movement. The Cyrillic dial signature translates as 'pole', referring to the North Pole. Very little is known about this model apart from that it's quite rare. It is believed that this watch was made is very small numbers, and was probably issued as a tool watch to people who worked in Soviet North Pole stations or explored the region. The second hand was broken at the top. The end of this hand should have an arrow shape.
